2012 My Best Bits

To me a great photo is mainly about capturing a moment that if missed may never be caught again. A single tear, that reflex to pick your nose when nerves strike, the oblivious old lady pushing the shopping trolley down the Kings Road, lifting the veil so as not to set it alight as you have that last fag to calm the nerves, telling your photographer exactly what you think about his “no tongues” rule during your wedding portraits, catching up on your emails with a nice cold glass of white wine and of course the apres wedding  spontaneous dip in the River Thames.

Its not always reactive. It can be about being creative with composition and natural light, just being silly or trying to make the more mundane seem somehow edgier and more impacting than it may at first seem.

These favourite 12 images of mine all come from weddings I shot in 2012 and I hope prove that wedding photography, like weddings themselves, need not be boring, staged, cheesy, regimented or forced. But quirky, original and memorable and ultimately a true “no holds barred” reflection of the wedding and bride and groom which they represent.

I have had quite simply the most amazing year and thank every bride and groom from the bottom of my heart for choosing me to capture their day, I couldn’t have done it without you all!

Here’s to more of the same in 2013 and the small matter of becoming a Dad for the first time. No biggy then *gulps*
